Joy's Crochet Baby Sock Booties
(adapted from Slipper Socks)
Use sport weight yarn and a size G (5) hook.
Rnd 1: ch 2, work 5 sc into 2nd ch from hook to form a circle. Mark last st of this rnd with a pin, then move pin to mark the end of each succeeding rnd.
Rnd 2: work 3 sc into each sc around (15 st)
Rnd 3: 2 sc in first sc, sc in each of the next 2 sc; repeat around (20 st)
Rnd 4-8: sc in each sc around for 5 rounds more
Back: ch 7
Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each of next 5 chs; sc in each of next 20 sc; sc in each ch on opposite side of beg ch; ch1, turn
Row 2-5: sc in back loop of each sc across; ch 1, turn (32 st)
Dec Row 1: sc in each of next 14 sc; dec over next 2 sts as follows: Draw up a loop in each of next 2 sts - 3 loops on a hook; YO and pull through all 3 loops. Repeat dec over next 2 st; sc in each of next 14; ch 1, turn
Dec Row 2: sc in each of the next 13 sc; dec over the next 2 st; repeat dec over the next 2 sts; sc in each of next 13; ch 1, turn
Dec Row 3: sc in each of next 12; dec twice; sc in each of next 12; ch 1, turn
Connect: fold back section in half, carefully matching sts; sl st inside loops of sides together; finish off
Ruffle: (Optional) Attach to any stitch on top of bootie; (ch 3 sc in next st) repeat around; join with sl st to last ch of starting ch 3; finish off
Turn bootie sock inside out and fold top down.
