  COMMISSIONS

What will I paint?

I will only paint miniatures that inspire me, because otherwise painting is a chore, and I don't do as good of a job.  You can get an idea from my gallery of the kinds of minis I like to paint, but your best bet is to just ask.

I will only paint to high-end tabletop or display quality, and I will only paint single miniature or dioramas, not armies or squads.

I will not paint figures I've painted before, or attempt to duplicate another artist's work.

I will paint most genres of miniatures, but no devils or demons, except perhaps in a diorama where they are being defeated by the good guys.  I'll add a splash of blood to a barbarian's axe, but I don't do very bloody, gory scenes.

I hate zombies.  I just really hate them.  I don't watch zombie movies, and I don't like zombie minis.

How often do I take commissions?

I do a couple commissions per year.  I have many personal projects I want to do, for competition, for friends, or just for myself.  I work full time and have a family, so while I love to paint minis, I don't have a lot of time to devote to the hobby, so I choose my projects carefully.

How much will I charge?

You will cover the price of the mini, by mailing it to me, or having it shipped to me from wherever you order it.  The prices below are my fee for the painting of the miniature, including used supplies.

Base price for 28mm high-end tabletop quality: $150
      about 15-20 hours of painting
conversions or special basing requests will cost extra

Display quality, larger minis, or dioramas: Contact me for an estimate

FREE Shipping in the Continental U.S.
Overseas varies (I'll ship it however you want, at the cheapest rate I can find)

How long will it take?

After I receive the mini you send me, it will take me approximately 2-4 weeks to finish your  high-quality tabletop model.  Display models take much longer, 6-8 weeks at least.

Your completed mini will be shipped as soon as payment is received.

What do "tabletop" and "display" mean?

Tabletop minis are meant to be handled.  They will receive a heavy coat of varnish to protect the paint job, and will be painted to the highest quality I can achieve in approximately 8-14 hours.  Most of the minis in my gallery fit into this category.

Display miniatures are meant to be handled rarely.  They will receive only a thin layer of protective varnish, in order to not obscure any of the fine details, and should be held only by the base.  They will be painted to the highest quality I can achieve, period.  Expect 25+ hours of painting to go into your display model.  My River Troll is an example of a display model.  I painted it for competition, and it took me about 50 hours to complete.

How do you hire me for a commission?

If you are interested in hiring me to paint something for you, contact me with the following information:

  • What model(s) do you want painted?
  • What conversions or extra work do you want done?
  • What colors are absolutely necessary on your piece?
  • What basing are you looking for?

I will follow up with whether I am interested in painting your mini, along with an estimate of cost and schedule.

PLEASE NOTE

I retain the rights to use photographs of any minis I have painted. Usually this means that I will post them in my gallery or on various hobby sites. You may post pictures of my minis on your personal web page as long as you credit me, and I request that you notify me as well.
